A mother of boys.

Some parents say it is toy guns that make boys warlike. But give a boy a rubber duck and he will seize its neck like the butt of a pistol and shout, “Bang!”

Me and my boys
August 2011

Oh boy.. or should I say boys! I found out recently that we are expecting our third son. Which we are very excited but cant help but to think... "Another boy to climb the walls and be gross?" lol. I absolutely adore our children, but lets face it. BOYS WILL BE BOYS! I never did understand what this quote ment until alas, I became a mother of boys. My neighbor has two daughters about the same ages as my two oldest children, She always says how hyper and loud they are. I have also been told that boys are harder as children and easier as teenagers. Although my oldest will be 6 in october, I am now relating to how other moms with Boys feel.

We dont get invited to do much, We only have boys. In the small country town I live in, There are much more little girls than boys. At this age, girls think boys are icky and gross... well, they are right! If I could only get my boys to stop talking about bodily functions long enough to consume a decent meal. I wanted to share some quotes and poem that stood out to me today, the poem even made me tear up, not in disappointment, but in love.

Boys in my HouseAuthor: Erin Jo Kilmer
There are boys in my house - and Spiderman shoes
And 200 papers in various blues.
There's Bob (he's a builder) and Thomas the Train,
There's a fireman coat to wear in the rain.
They have cars on their shirts and frogs on their hats
There's a glove and a ball and a red plastic bat.
There's dirt on a face and a smudge on a nose;
Grass stains on knees and sand between toes.
There's bathtime at night with bodies to scrub,
And when we're all done there is dirt in the tub!
There's bandaids and bruises and curious bumps,
There's smiles and laughter and sometimes there's grumps.
There's odors most icky; there's boogers so green
There's more yucky things than I'll ever get clean.
There's piles of laundry; there's stories at night;
There's bedtime and bathtime and dinnertime fights.
There's cars and there's trains and there's books about trucks
There's Scoop, Lofty, Dizzy, and Travis, and Muck.
Sometimes there are bugs, and sometimes there are frogs;
Sometimes they are lions, or dinos, or dogs.
There are cute little vests and darling neckties
Dragged right through the mud - oh what a surprise!
There's running and climbing and jumping and falling
And laughing and crying and hugging and brawling
And rolling and losing and finding and creeping
And whining and stealing and sometimes there's sleeping.
There's tantrums and time outs and extra loud noise -
There's love in my house shaped like two little boys.

And lets face it, boys are boys for a reason! So quickly are we trying to find a cure for our child because they are Super excited, or have their mind on other things in school except school. i mean, did we always have all of our attention on the teacher? I sure didnt. There is nothing wrong with me, school was boring and I'd rather be playing. My boys are all about running really fast and knocking each other down. They do not have any disorder, they are just boys. If you search quotes and poems about boys, they would all be modern ADHD children. lol. give him a couple years. then his focus will be on girls insead of school. Its their nature!

“If Huck Finn or Tom Sawyer were alive today, we’d say they had ADD or a conduct disorder. They [boys] are who they are, and we need to love them for who they are. Let’s not try to rewire them.”
— Michael Gurian, author of The Wonder of Boys and other books in a 1998 interview with Newsweek magazine.

One thing is for sure, My boys love me and I love them. My oldest son almost every hour no matter what he was doing or what I am doing will stop everything to search me out just to say, "Mommy, I love you".  My soon to be middle son cant sleep at night unless mommy is laying next to him singing either twinkle twinkle little star or rock - a - bye baby. I am not even close to a good singer, but they dont care, they love me.

Crafty minded today.

Sooo I am so happy with my easter baskets i ordered at personalizationmall.com I want to share a picture with you.

I do not own an embroidery machine, and people are crazy to assume because i am crafty i would hand embroider their names. HA. no. I dont have that much patience. But, I will be ordering another green one for baby Samuel (Sam) Duane. That is the name we have choosen to give our new bundle of joy comming in august.

Right now, I have to finish my knitting contract, I am about half way done and only have a couple of days left to do it. But i decided to write a blog before I get burried in yarn. Plus blogging helps me continue to keep my brain organized. As soon as I finish this knitting contract, the next project I am going to do is sew a maternity gown for my 10 year high school reunion. Here is a picture of what the gown will look like... But keep in mind, I am doing black as the sheer loose layer, and hot pink as the spandex inner layer, with hot pink sequence trim under the breasts. Super excited, but here is the pattern i will be using. I will be making the longer dress of the two.

After finishing the dress, then it is on to making things for this baby's arrival simutaniously making a mommy cardigan for myself. For the cardigan I plan on using a pattern I found on ravelry which can be found on knitty.com.
Here is a picture of the Cardigan, it is called Therapi by Stefanie Japel

I will be using Sugarbunny yarn from Knitpicks.com which is an alpaca, angora blend. Hoping to have this done by fall, but i figured while i am sitting and watching tv with the hubby i can work on this.

Some of the baby items that are on top of my list to sew is a Diaper bag, A breast feeding cover, a changing pad and various other covers to make things easier to wash.
Since we found out we are having another boy, The colors i have chosen are Tourquoise, Orange, and browns. The theme will be owls. I know, owls are a little wierd, but they have such cute patterns and ideas for owl themes. and owls stay awake all night to watch over your baby as you slumber.... okay maybe a little far fetched but you gotta play with the idea. Here is a picture of the fabric i found that i want to use as the main for the baby items, and if we do decide to have another baby in about 3 years, it will work for either sex.

One more thing that I want to get done before the baby is 3 months old. may make it for baby Sam for christmas are these cute little foam blocks. I already have the fabric, thought it would be super cute.

Any of the easy sewing or knitting projects, I will start tutorial blogs on the projects but only post it once the item is complete. :) In those blogs i will talk about the pattern and my likes and dislikes. I will post links to the yarns and the patterns I use so if you want to give it a go, Go right on ahead!

Thanks for reading, I enjoy getting comments :)

Hello everyone!

I know it has been a while since I have written anything. I have had to cut back on crafts and everything in general with the expecting of our next child. Here is one of the baby's ultrasounds.

I am currently 23 weeks pregnant. this pregnancy had been so much easier then the other two, I think it is a result of me being on the right dose of my thyroid medication. I have not gained near as much weight either.

April is always a hard month for me. When I was in the military, this month in 2003 alone I recieved 27 negitive councelings. I am a person that likes to follow the rules and stay out of trouble, so this was devistating for me. I then reached a great depression which I almost wasnt able to come out of. Now, every april it just seems like everything goes wrong. I am on edge, most of it is probaly the PTSD from the military. This week alone started out like this:
Monday: Went to get my hair trimmed, she did a hack job. I went home crying.
Tuesday: Was looking forward and was excited about finding out the sex of the baby my husband even took the day off to be contacted by my doctor saying that because i had one at 18 weeks there is no medical relivance to do another ultrasound. I spent the day in tears.
Wednesday: Went and got my hair fixed, but it is way shorter then I wanted.
Thursday: Went and paid for a civilian 3D ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby, Found out we are expecting baby BOY number 3!!!!
Friday: Went and spent the day with an awesome friend, because my father in law was at my house. He absolutely hates me so id rather not be around him. Then I was informed he was staying the night, which i was not happy with. but I survived.
And now today... Saturday: My husband will be gone all day today and prob tomorrow helping his cousin re roof her house.

Here is one of the 3D ultrasound photos of our new baby boy.
I was going to get my tubes tied after this one, but I have done a lot of thinking. My husband so desperitaly wanted this baby to be his daddy's girl. I love my husband so much, if he asked me in 2 to 3 years to have another baby, I would do it. So I have decided NOT to get my tubes tied.

Preparing for this baby is getting exciting. This is my FIRST year to ever have a baby shower. AND it is my 10 year high school reunion. which i get the pleasure of being 7 1/2 months pregnant when i get there :p But I am totally excited. I love kansas, Kansans are some of the NICEST people you will ever meet! not saying they are all nice, but culture wise, they are much more kind then most American cultures.

Right now, I need to get busy on the Knitting contract i am doing for a knitwear designer. So I will write more later. I pray that I get it done on time! only 10 days left!

God bless,
Dezarae'

P.S I wanted to share a picture of my oldest two boys during the Easter holidays.
